Chairman's Report 2020 - 2021

This has been a year like no other and has been challenging for everyone in the country.

We are just coming out of our third national lockdown at the time of writing this report and between each of these we have had to follow social distancing measures which has limited many activities and events in the area.

These measures have also meant that the Parish Council has been unable to meet in person so this year we have embraced virtual meetings and the technical challenges that entails.  I’d like to thank my fellow councillors for their perseverance and continued commitment over this period and special thanks to our hard working clerk Shelagh who has done a sterling job in hosted all of these meetings.

Since the start of July the play area has remained open and a number of parents have expressed gratitude to me for the park and equipment which has made it a favourite within the local area.

The group of mowing volunteers Joff Parson, John Wilkinson, Tony Patrick and headed up by Cllr Campion, have continued to keep the parks grass looking good and I want to thank them all for their continued support.

My contribution has been minimal this year other than carrying out the weekly inspections and finishing the installation of the remaining line wires to the ball fence ahead of the parks first ROSPA annual inspection in August.

Joff Parsons has also initiated a request with OpenReach for the installation of FTTP full fiber broadband to Swaton and Helpringham villages however progress has been slow but is ongoing.

Like the rest of the UK I am hoping 2021 will be the final transition from Covid 19 restrictions to normality.
